Gemstone
Analyzes a read-only snapshot of a workshop or facet-editor design. Changing analysis settings does not change the saved design. Refresh the list to see newer saves. Plane projects do not store material properties; enter a refractive index before tracing.
Trace a ray
Isotropic, nonabsorbing scalar model. Fresnel power is averaged over polarization at each encounter; polarization evolution is not modeled. No dispersion, inclusions, birefringence or performance grading.
Side projection (x–z). White: boundary; mint: inside segments; amber: escaping rays. Segment opacity reflects power. Power left at depth/threshold limits or an ambiguous edge is reported as unresolved, not lost.
Calculated path coordinates
Search rough orientations
Centered ellipsoid, finite Euler-angle grid. Rotation only; no translation, defect avoidance, cleavage or crystal-axis constraints. Best sampled orientation is not a global optimum.
Clearance uses a conservative contracted ellipsoid. Yield is the unscaled gemstone volume divided by the original ellipsoid volume, shown only when it fits. Maximum scale is a geometric bound for each sampled orientation, not a cutting recommendation.
Keep this study
A study stores a gemstone snapshot and all analysis inputs. Results are recalculated when reopened; the source design stays unchanged. Studies use the saved-project location selected above.
